Spiritual and Social Imperative

Poverty causes our children to work instead of studying. Poverty causes our children to work instead of studying.
Poverty forces our children to work instead of studying.

"I decided not to become an ordained minister because I knew that what God envisioned for my life in ministry went beyond the scope of the day-to-day responsibilities of a church. The vision transcends religious, denominational, cultural, racial, political, economic and linguistic barriers. Barriers that have so greatly divided people, even within the Christian Church itself. But just as God is One, so humanity is One, and therefore Christ died for all."
-- Carlos Javier Mejia

Carlos Javier and his brothers Mario Mejia (Vice President) and William (Export and Marketing Manager) are fully committed to seeing "La Vida Jóven" (Young Life Nicaragua, www.vidajoven.org) ministry grow and expand in all parts of Nicaragua and neighboring countries. They envision Esperanza Coffee as one of the vehicles by which God will accomplish this outreach to the young people of Latin America.

"We are committed to make our company a model, a new paradigm, an example for other businesses to follow and to share with in the responsibility of doing equitable business; to give back a portion to the people and communities that make our businesses possible in the first place. In doing so we would be creating a more just society, a place where people may not only survive, but thrive. This is, after all, the goal of the Church in the world: to be a "City on a Hill", a place where the love of God to all peoples is manifested in real, concrete and meaningful ways. Our company’s mission is also to bring clean water to rural villages, education and recreation for peasant and homeless children, to bring medical care and education for the disenfranchised of our societies. By doing this, the True Power of the Kingdom of God is demonstrated through ACTION, and not just through mere WORDS or EMPTY RHETORIC."
